8 years before the events of Angel, Maria Ramirez Garcia lives a normal life with her family until a tragedy strikes. Motivated by grief and anger, Maria searches for answers, a search that leads her to Theo. Theo is a hunter, someone who specializes in studying the supernatural and occult things from the world and doing what needs to be done to keep humanity safe from what hides in the dark.
Going from state to state, Maria encounters dozens of things she didn't believe to be real. She meets hunter after hunter, all with different pasts, all with different futures, but all with one thing in common: one way or another, they've all suffered a tragedy that's pushed them into the life of a hunter.
A Hunter's Guide is Maria's journal from her time traveling with Theo, with each entry dedicated to something new Theo teaches her about. As Maria begins to learn more about the world around her, she and Theo slowly learn the world is changing, as are all the monsters and creatures in it.
